RSB Travel Premium

  • Annual service: 3,000 rubles (for two cards - MasterCard and American Express)
  • Loan rate: from 37%
  • Grace period: up to 55 days
  • Mileage: 2% on MC purchases, 2.5% on AE
  • Welcome miles: 1000 miles for the main card and 300 miles for the additional card

In the RSB Travel Premium package, you are presented with two cards - MC World PayPass and American Express. In addition, you can issue a set of two additional cards, their annual maintenance will cost 1,500 rubles. Below are excerpts from the description of the map from the official website of the BRS:

When paying for purchases with an American Express card, you are awarded 1 point for every 20 rubles, when paying with MasterCard 1 point for every 25 rubles.

Rewards points are used to reimburse travel expenses. These include debit transactions in the amount of at least 500 rubles made in airlines, hotels, car rental offices, as well as in companies engaged in tour operator and / or travel agency activities.

After such a spending transaction, the accumulated points are deducted from the bonus account and compensated by the return of money to the card account at the rate of 1 bonus point for every 0.5 rubles.

As you can see, points from the card can be used not only to buy an air ticket, but also to pay for a hotel or tour operator services. Interestingly, it is more profitable to pay with an AE card, but here the bank, apparently, is calculating that they are not accepted anywhere. Although American Express is certainly more convenient for trips to the USA.

Sberbank Aeroflot Bonus credit/debit card

  • Annual maintenance: 3,500 rubles
  • Loan rate: from 25.9% to 33.9%
  • Grace period: up to 50 days
  • Mileage accrual: 1.5 miles for every 30 rubles or 1 dollar/euro
  • Welcome miles: 1000 miles
  • Additional cards: for debit only

There are many co-branded cards with Aeroflot, but, as our readers correctly noted, Sberbank has the most profitable program, because competitors charge one mile for 50/60 rubles. Since this card is the most profitable, then we will compare it with our competitors.

For 3,500 rubles, you get a Visa Gold level card with PayWave support, and you can only issue an additional card for a debit card.

Alfa Miles Signature Light

  • Annual maintenance: RUB 3,500+5,099
  • Loan rate: calculated individually
  • Grace period: up to 60 days
  • Mileage accrual: 1.5 miles for every 30 rubles or 1 USD/0.8 EUR
  • Welcome miles: 5,000 miles
  • Additional cards: 3,500 rubles per year

This card also has a more advanced version, but its service is too expensive (the card itself is free, but it can be issued only as part of the "Maximum" package with a payment of 3,000 rubles per month or if you have on your account for a month the minimum balance was from 1 million rubles). The amount of the annual service for Signature Light is 3,500 rubles, but it can be issued only if the Comfort package is activated, https://alfabank.ru/everyday/package/comfort/ which costs 500 rubles per month or 5,100 rubles per year ( or free if you have 300,000 rubles on your card or savings account monthly). In fairness, for this money, among other things, you get a Priority Pass with the ability to stay in the business lounges of most airports.

Now about the miles themselves. They can also be spent not only on air tickets, but also on Russian Railways tickets, Aeroexpress, hotel reservations and car rentals. There is even an opportunity to pay for the ticket with miles in part! There is only one important clarification, all bookings and purchases must be made from the site alfamiles.com

And this is where the fun begins. For an hour I tried to get information from Alfa-Bank employees about the rate at which miles will be reimbursed. That is, how many miles do I need to accumulate in order to buy a ticket for 10,000 rubles, for example. But neither the call center nor the tech support on Twitter could give a clear answer to this question. They say that the price in miles is calculated online, but they can only look at these prices. only current Alfa Miles customers! It turns out that before issuing a card, you have no idea how profitable it is. A very funny situation, given that the annual service comes out to about 8,000 rubles.

@A1daron "The A-Miles Program does not have a fixed table of Reward Tickets, the system calculates the cost in real time at the time of the search"

— Alfa-Bank (@alfa_bank) June 5, 2015

I have also clarified who Alpha's partner is in this booking program. The call center said that no one, but a search on banki.ru showed that alfamiles is just a mirror of the iglobe website, they also noted that iglobe prices are higher than other aggregators.

Tinkoff All Airlines

  • Card type: credit, chipped MasterCard PayPass/VISA PayWave
  • Card issue and annual maintenance: RUB 1,800
  • Issue and annual maintenance of an additional card: 600 rubles
  • Validity period: 3 years
  • Bonus amount: 2% of purchases returned as miles
  • Credit limit: up to RUB 700,000
  • Rate: 19-40% per annum for non-cash purchases, 26-40% for cash withdrawals
  • Grace period: up to 55 days
  • Bonus miles: 1000 miles

I already talked about this card in detail in my last weekend article on bank cards, if you want to refresh your head, you can follow the link below.

As part of today's comparison, I will highlight the main advantages of All Airlines: 2% miles are credited for all regular purchases, 3% for the purchase of any air tickets or payment for travel agency services, 5% for issuing tickets on the travel.tinkoff.ru website (this is a mirror of OneTwoTrip) and 10% for booking through travel.tinkoff.ru (this is a mirror of booking.com, the prices are similar there, I specifically compared). After accumulating the required number of miles, you can redeem the purchase of an air ticket/travel agency service via Internet banking. Interestingly, the redemption is available within 90 days after the purchase, so you can also use the miles for the purchase itself for Toyota Premio 2011 Silver its blanking. The most unpleasant thing about this card: the "steps" of blanking. The minimum redemption amount is 6,000 miles and goes up in increments of 3,000 miles. That is, to redeem a ticket of 4,500 or 5,500 rubles, you will need 6,000 miles, and a ticket for 9,100 rubles will cost you 12,000 miles. Completely unfair calculation, in my opinion.

But on the other hand, you can buy tickets without being tied to a specific airline or to a specific website (you can cancel not only tickets purchased through travel.tinkoff.ru, but any in general), the main thing is to guess the cost close to the step.

Comparison

For comparison, I chose a round-trip Aeroflot ticket to Berlin, on the airline's website it is sold for 11,853 rubles for September (from September 1 to September 6).

Let's start with RSB Platinum. Since you have two cards available with different rates, I think it would be fair to take an average accrual rate of 2.25% of miles. As a result, it turns out that in order to receive this ticket for miles, you will need to spend 526,800 rubles.

Let's move on to the co-branded card of Aeroflot and Sberbank. The Aeroflot Bonus website states that fuel and airport taxes are not included in the payment for miles, so you will have to pay an additional 1,386 rubles. The ticket price per miles will be 25,000 miles. Let me remind you that in the program under consideration you get 1.5 miles for every 30 rubles, it turns out that the cost of one mile is 20 rubles. As a result, to get a free ticket, you will need to spend 500,000 rubles.

Alfa Miles does not have the ability to calculate the cost of a ticket, so we immediately go to Tinkoff All Airlines. I remind you that cashback on the card is 2% for regular purchases, or more precisely, 1 mile for 50 rubles. We need 12,000 miles to offset this purchase. Total: 600,000 rubles. Here, however, you still need to take into account that for the tickets themselves and booking a hotel you will receive a certain number of miles, so the final amount will be lower, on the other hand, it is not a fact that the desired ticket, like this one, will be slightly lower than the desired price step.< /p>

Conclusion

The purpose of my article was not to directly compare mile programs, but to show that for their profitability you will need to make an annual turnover in the region of 500-600 thousand rubles. And all this just for the sake of buying a relatively inexpensive (12,000 rubles) air ticket.

And now let's take a turnover of 600,000 rubles and imagine that we spend it for a year on the MTS Money Deposit card, where 3% is charged for purchases to your mobile account. For the year we will receive 18,000 rubles, which is 6,000 rubles more profitable than saving on an air ticket.

At the same time, I would not say that mile cards from banks are unprofitable for anyone at all. If you take the same Tinkoff All Airlines or RSB Travel Premium and pay for business trips from them, then the accumulation will go much faster, however, another question arises - are there many such users? I doubt it.

Weekend article. Are miles cards from banks profitable?

The idea for the article was suggested to me by Eldar Murtazin and Sergey Kuzmin. We were drinking coffee after the meeting, and Eldar said that he planned to get himself a mile card. Seryozha noted that I just wrote about bank cards and maybe I can advise something. At that time, I knew the detailed conditions only for Tinkoff All Airlines, and also had general information on how much you need to spend per year to buy tickets using such cards.

Initially, I thought of naming the article "Mile Cards Are Fiction", but then I decided not to use such a provocative title, especially since there will still be benefits for a certain category of readers. To begin with, I will talk about the conditions of each card, and below I will bring all the indicators “to a common denominator” and compare the amounts that need to be spent to accumulate a ticket to the same country.

Important: some banks have different levels of card service, I will take the maximum one in order to see the accrual of miles at the best opportunity.

RSB Travel Premium

After accumulating the required number of miles, you can redeem the purchase of an air ticket/travel agency service via Internet banking.Interestingly, the redemption is available within 90 days after the purchase, that is, you can also use the miles for the purchase itself for the Toyota Premio 2011 Silver redemption.

I doubt it.
