Saturday coffee №60

On the occasion of a small anniversary, the sixtieth issue of "Saturday Coffee", our editors, together with Sony Mobile, decided to give you, our dear readers, a small gift and raffle off a Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra smartphone. The details of the draw are at the end of the material, but for now let's move on to the news of the past week.

What is happening in the Russian smartphone market

The top five in unit sales in the Russian market looks like this: Samsung, Huawei/Honor, Xiaomi, Apple. In fact, this is a four, since Huawei and Honor are considered together, this is actually the same company, despite the artificial division inside. There are other B/C brands in the long tail, of which BQ, Vertex can be singled out, they play a role both in federal and regional channels. But for simplicity, I limited myself in the sample to companies that occupy more than 5% of the market in unit terms; in the long tail, not a single manufacturer could cross this threshold. As well as even the merger of all subsidiaries of BBK Corporation will not allow us to exceed this threshold. You can read more in the article by Eldar Murtazin, which was published this week:

The players of the top five don't change much this year, they just shuffle between each other from time to time. For example, Huawei/Honor sank in sales due to US sanctions against the company, but since the situation has normalized at the moment, sales should go up again in the near future. Samsung has risen in sales thanks to the new A and M series smartphones, the company previously had a clear failure in the lower and middle price segment, but the new models correct the situation. Apple is falling in sales, expensive, and even the “budget” iPhone XR does not save the situation, and new models are looming on the horizon, so users are waiting. Xiaomi closes the top five, but gray deliveries make it very difficult for the Russian office to increase sales, some buyers are ready to be left without an official guarantee, just to save 1-2 thousand rubles, which only stimulate the growth of the gray market.

Nintendo introduces Switch Lite

Nintendo has unveiled its new Nintendo Switch Lite console, which differs from the "full" Nintendo Switch in that it only allows you to play in handheld mode. Nintendo Switch Lite will go on sale on September 20 at a price of 16,990 rubles.

Saturday coffee #60

Essentially, Switch Lite is a modern PSP, only from Nintendo. The manufacturer made a completely portable console without the ability to connect the “light” version to a TV, and he also removed the removable Joy-Con controllers, thereby limiting the ability to play several players on the console at once. The price of 16,990 rubles, on the one hand, does not look so bad, on the other hand, now in Russia you can buy an older version of the Nintendo Switch for about 18,000 rubles. The advantages of Nintendo Switch Lite in more compact dimensions and increased battery life, which has yet to be tested. The disadvantages include a smaller screen and the lack of the ability to connect to TV and play on the console of several players at the same time. If you've been eyeing the console from Nintendo, then it's probably worth picking up the older Nintendo Switch now, while it's still available at a delicious price.

We haven't got the Nintendo Switch Lite on test yet, but this week we posted a review of the affordable Dell G5 gaming laptop, read it if you missed it:

Apple updates MacBook Air and Pro

Apple has announced an update to its MacBook Air and MacBook Pro laptops, with the MacBook Air now featuring True Tone Retina display, and the entry-level 13-inch MacBook Pro now featuring the latest 8th Gen quad-core processors. It now also features the Touch Bar and Touch ID, a True Tone Retina display, and the Apple T2 Security Chip. /news/apple-obnovila-svoi-noutbuki-macbook-air-i-macbook-pro

Saturday Coffee #60

In addition to updating these models, the company has removed its MacBook 12 laptop from the market, and the MacBook Pro without Touch Bar has also disappeared from sale. On the one hand, it's great that the initial firmware has received an update and now does not look like a hermit among its brethren. On the other hand, not all users liked and needed the Touch Bar, and, alas, there is no version without it anymore. Also, of course, users are upset about the departure of Apple's 12-inch laptop from the market, many liked this model.

Updated MacBook Pro was estimated in our market at 109,990 and 125,990 rubles, depending on the modification. The updated MacBook Air will cost 93,990 and 109,990 rubles, respectively.

On the topic of updated Apple laptops, Vladimir Nimin also wrote in #Echo26, I suggest you read the material:

Sony WF-1000XM3 Wireless Noise Canceling Headphones

Japanese company Sony has announced the expansion of its acclaimed 1000X wireless headphone lineup with a new model, the WF-1000XM3, where its advanced noise-canceling technology is further enhanced by the QN1e HD noise-canceling processor and Dual Noise Sensor technology.

The WF-1000XM3 Dual Noise Sensor headphones feature the new QN1e HD Noise Canceling Processor to capture and cancel noise, allowing the listener to fully concentrate on the music. The Dual Noise Sensor technology and the presence of both an internal and an external microphone outside the headphone cup allow you to capture the maximum of extraneous noise from the surrounding space. The QN1e HD Noise Canceling Processor handles background noise. The processor generates an inverted sound wave that completely cancels out external noise. The new processor allows not only to suppress more noise at all frequencies, but also consumes less power. Any extraneous sounds - from airplane noise to the rumble of city streets - are completely muffled, and the user hears only music.

Saturday Coffee #60

The WF-1000XM3 headphones last up to 24 hours with noise canceling on, thanks to a functional charging case with on-the-go charging: the headphones work for 6 hours and can be recharged from the case 3 times, which in total gives an additional 18 hours of operation. And with fast charging technology in 10 minutes, the headphones will be charged for 90 minutes of use.

The price of Sony WF-1000XM3 headphones in Europe will be 250 euros, in Russia they will probably cost about 20,000 rubles. I am personally embarrassed that the headphones are large for this format and look a little strange on the user, although, of course, they need to be tried on for themselves, perhaps everything is not so bad. Otherwise, a very interesting product: compact, with noise reduction, probably good sound quality and decent battery life.

Saturday coffee #60

It is not yet clear when the Sony WF-1000XM3 will be officially sold on our market, so you can look at other options, for example, the Creative Outlier Air headphones, which we had a detailed review of this week:

If you don't like earplug format, Motorcycles & Scooters in Mombasa and you prefer full size headphones, then Last week we also released a review of the AKG Y500 Wireless:

Mobile Almanac 2019

Let's move on to a portion of the rumors that leaked online last week.

Samsung leaked Galaxy Note 10 press renders from the South Korean company Samsung Electronics. The Samsung Galaxy Note 10+ will reportedly feature a 6.75-inch QHD+ display with HDR10+ support. The resolution of the front camera will be 10 MP and will receive phase detection autofocus. One of the cameras of the main module will receive a resolution of 48 MP, the second - a 2x zoom lens, and the third - a wide-angle one.

Saturday coffee #60

Less than a month is left before the official presentation of the new Galaxy Note 10 smartphone, and soon we will be able to find out for ourselves how reliable these product leaks are.

And we published two reviews of smartphones from Samsung, the Galaxy M10 model, on our website this week:

And Galaxy A10 models:

Google Pixel 4 XL shown in quality renderings. Rendered images have surfaced online claiming to show off the look of the Pixel 4 XL smartphone. Google, apparently, is not going to follow the trend and hide the front camera somewhere. The device has a dual selfie module, which is traditionally placed in a frame above the screen. No cutouts, no slots, no retractable modules, no other fashionable experiments. There is only one minus - the already large 6.25-inch screen with an aspect ratio of 19.5 to 9 makes the device not the most compact offer on the market: 160.4 x 75.2 x 8.2 mm. At the location of the main chamber, there is a thickening of up to 9.3 mm. It is worth noting that the basic version of the Pixel 4 cannot be called ultra-compact: 147.0 x 68.9 mm with the same thickness. The impressive size of the camera module is explained by the presence of a 16-megapixel camera with a telephoto lens. At the same time, the third lens is not another full-fledged sensor, but a frame depth measurement module. The front camera is also supplemented with a module for 3D measurements, which in theory will give greater reliability of face recognition. Otherwise, the device externally repeats the Pixel 4 and does not differ too much from its predecessor.

…and dessert

Artur Pirozhkov, aka Alexander Revva, a former player of the KVN team "Burnt by the Sun", and now a resident of the Comedy Club show, has released a new video for the song "Alcoholic". Both the video and the song do not pretend to be some kind of highly artistic work, but as a background for the mood it is quite funny.

Last week, Vladimir Nimin published quite interesting material about new series and films - read it if you missed it, maybe you will find something worthwhile for yourself:

Gifts!

Dear readers, as we already wrote at the beginning of the article, the Mobile-Review.com team, together with Sony Mobile, wants to give you a gift and raffle off a Sony Xperia XA2 Ultra smartphone.

Saturday coffee #60

You probably remember that on July 1, the Sony Walkman turned 40 years old, on this occasion we invite you to remember all the Sony portable products that you had and write about the most significant models for you in the comments to this material. For example, I remember the very first Sony Walkman TPS-L2 player that my father brought from a business trip (there are even photos of me with it somewhere), I also have very fond memories of the Sony Ericsson W950i smartphone on Symbian, although it was not ideal . Of the latest products, I liked the Sony Xperia XZ3 the most, and it was even somehow a pity to part with it. In general, write in the comments, attach your personal product photos, if any, it will be interesting!

We will award the prize for the most interesting, in the opinion of the editors and representatives of Sony Mobile, commentary on the sixtieth issue of Saturday Coffee. Comments left before July 18, 2019 by 13:00 (Moscow time) will be taken into account, and we will announce the winners in Saturday Coffee No. 61, which will be released on 07/20/19. We can send the prize in Russia, or you can personally pick it up in Moscow.

Basically, Switch Lite is like a modern PSP, only from Nintendo.

The updated MacBook Pro was priced at 109,990 and 125,990 rubles on our market, depending on the modification.

Japanese company Sony has announced the expansion of its acclaimed 1000X wireless headphone line with a new model, the WF-1000XM3, where its advanced noise-canceling technology is further enhanced by the QN1e HD noise-canceling processor and Dual Noise Sensor technology.

The WF-1000XM3 headphones last up to 24 hours with noise canceling on, thanks to a functional charging case with on-the-go charging: the headphones work for 6 hours and can be recharged from the case 3 times, for a total of 18 more hours of use.

It is not yet clear when the Sony WF-1000XM3 will be officially sold on our market, so you can look at other options, for example, the Creative Outlier Air headphones, which we had a detailed review of this week:

If you don't like the earplug format, Motorcycles & Scooters in Mombasa and you prefer full-size headphones, then last week we also released a review of the AKG Y500 Wireless:

Mobile Almanac 2019

Let's move on to a portion of the rumors that leaked online last week.

Samsung leaked press renders of the Galaxy Note 10. Indian insider Ishan Agarwal published press renders and basic information regarding the new Galaxy Note 10+ phablet from the South Korean company Samsung Electronics on the pages of the local online publication MySmartPrice.

Google Pixel 4 XL shown on high-quality renderings.
