I think getting people from the auto industry to work on the rest of the car's components isn't that hard. Perhaps next year we will be able to find out what kind of electric car Dyson turned out to be, most likely, it will be a crossover, and who from the auto industry had a hand in its creation.

The model turned out to be very interesting in appearance, the only thing is that not all colors suit it, in black and dark gray it loses most of its charm, these colors hide those minor body details that create the overall picture. The Peugeot 3008 looks very interesting in a two-tone body design, when the back is painted black, in these versions the model stands out on the road and attracts attention. The car looks good from almost all angles, moderately aggressive, moderately sophisticated - in general, French designers can be given a solid five.

If I had no questions about the exterior of the car, then the interior was not to my liking, and not externally, but with its ergonomics. The first acquaintance with the car was somehow crumpled and quickly. I sat down, set up the seat, steering wheel, mirrors and drove off thinking: “What kind of designer garbage is this ?!”. But it was worth driving a few tens of kilometers and adjusting everything to suit myself in a calm environment, and I realized that everything is in order with the ergonomics of the Peugeot 3008, it’s just different and differs from its counterparts not only in the body and appearance of the cabin, but also in landing, and approach to many things. For example, you put the steering wheel, which has cuts not only from below, but also from above, almost on your knees, sit as vertically as possible, and you have an excellent view of a very interesting and informative digital panel, which the manufacturer called i-Cockpit. Yes, some moments at Peugeot were made only to impress the future buyer with visual beauty, for example, several display modes on the instrument panel that quickly change with a roller from the steering wheel, and at the same time the change occurs with beautiful visual effects. Why it is constantly on the steering wheel, I don’t know, but in the early days you will play with these modes like a child, but later, of course, stop at one type of display, and the roller on the steering wheel will become an extra element for you.

In general, the interior of the Peugeot 3008 is very original, with a complex layered architecture of the front panel, which hides the Ambilight, with fabric inserts that look very interesting and fresh. The curved gear lever looks like some kind of alien element, but in operation it is not much different from the classic counterparts. The protruding buttons for quick access to the functions of the on-board system have an unusual shape and are disguised as metal, but in fact they are plastic with a metallized coating. The simplest element in the interior design is the protruding 8-inch touchscreen multimedia system. The impression is that the designers have run out of fuse on it and they just did it “like everyone else”.

There are questions about the interface of the car's multimedia system and some illogical decisions. So, the system does not have at least some kind of main menu, transitions between sections are carried out using separate buttons below it, which I wrote about above, while it should be understood that you have to jump from the touch screen to the buttons and back, which is not very convenient Rice Cookers. There is an interesting i-Cockpit Amplify section, which contains settings for: aromatization, contour lighting, music system sound, seat massage and driving mode. Such a hodgepodge at first confuses how car dynamics and interior lighting can be combined, but Peugeot engineers believe that in this way you can quickly select the desired profile to suit your mood and change it in a few clicks. To be honest, for me this profile has remained an option that I tried and forgot. It's just that if I want to choose the sport settings of the car, then they are not related to any special type of seat massage or interior lighting, in my opinion, these are completely different functions.

The car's multimedia system can work with Android Auto and Apple CarPlay, everything is clear and standard here, the only thing is that pressing the physical navigation key opens the program of your choice, such as Google Maps. There is support for Mirror Link, when you can broadcast an image from your smartphone to the screen of the on-board system. It’s a pity, but our car didn’t have regular navigation, but it’s still much better than the same Android Auto integrated into the system, and during the trip you get a beautiful picture with a map and route tips on the virtual dashboard. By the way, the car can work with text messages, downloading them from your phone and displaying them in a separate section on the main screen. In the niche behind the gear lever is a wireless Qi charger, so if your smartphone supports this type of charging, then you can always recharge the device when needed. The only thing is that the niche is deep and too low, I periodically touched the door lock button, which is located above it, when I took out the phone. On the far wall of the niche is a USB connector. Yes, it is not so easy to crawl up to it, on the other hand, you connected the cable once and forgot, it is doubtful that you will constantly pull it back and forth.

I liked the seats of the Peugeot 3008, they look good, with beautiful stitching, but most importantly, they are comfortable and, which tall drivers will appreciate, with an adjustable knee cushion, but they lack lateral support a little. In our car, the driver's seat was fully electrically adjustable, except for the hamstring cushion, with position memory, and the front seats were equipped with an eight-point massage function. The front seats also have four-way electrically adjustable lumbar support. In general, the seats, after you adjust them for yourself, will be comfortable for you, you will not get tired in them even during a long trip. It is worth saying that Peugeot has very interesting prices for options, for example, chairs with electric adjustments and massage will cost 60,000 rubles, if you don’t need a massage, then just an electric package for the seats will cost 35,000 rubles, and, for example, upholstery with natural Nappa leather costs 145,000 rubles, this price already includes seat massage.

The set of driver assistants is standard for a modern car, there is a camera that reads road signs and displays information on the dashboard. There is a traffic control system in the lane with a lane departure prevention system, but, apparently, it is set up for European roads, since in Moscow, even where the markings, in my opinion, are good, they sometimes see, sometimes they don’t see lanes. Of course, the Peugeot 3008 has in its arsenal the function of tracking dead zones with light indication in the far upper corner of the mirrors. During parking, the driver comes to the aid of parking sensors in a circle and two cameras, the picture from them is of average quality, but there is a good 360 ° view, which is quite informative. Here, by the way, there are oddities of French ergonomics. The rear camera is activated when you turn on the reverse gear, if you immediately turn on the drive, then the front camera is logically activated, but in order to turn on the same camera separately, for example, if you park right in front, you need to climb into the car settings menu and activate it from there her work. Also, for novice drivers, a parallel and perpendicular parking assistant will be a useful option, and on the road, everyone will need adaptive cruise control, a warning system to reduce the distance to the vehicle in front, and an emergency braking system. All options work correctly, the only thing is that the lever with the cruise control buttons is not very convenient, and it is difficult to use it, at least at first. Again, I want to return to the question of the cost of options in Peugeot cars, for example, a full package of driver assistants costs 45,000 rubles, a City package with two cameras and a parking assistant will cost 30,000 rubles. The prices are very affordable, for the same Germans, such options can cost three or five times more.

It is worth saying a little about nice, but optional options, for example, in the Peugeot 3008 there is a backlight for the area next to the doors with a projection of the brand's logo, it looks impressive. Aromatization of the interior is also available, three well-chosen fragrances to choose from, one more feminine, one masculine and neutral, for a car worth around 2,000,000 rubles, this is a rarity. Also, for 80,000 rubles, you can equip the car with a panoramic roof with an automatic sunroof, it becomes much lighter and more comfortable in the cabin. True, in the panorama there are again oddities of ergonomics. Usually, if this option is available in the car, then when you look up from the front seats, you immediately see the sky. In the Peugeot 3008, the beginning of the transparent roof is shifted back, and in order to enjoy the views, you have to throw your head back. Also, for 30,000 rubles, you can equip the car with a mechanism for automatically opening and closing the tailgate. Yes, it is worth saying that the trunk is quite good here, 591 liters of usable space.

In Russia, the car is offered with a choice of two engines, a two-liter diesel and a 1.6-liter petrol, in both cases, the power is 150 hp. Only a classic six-speed automatic is offered as a gearbox. We had a diesel car for testing, which is very good for the city, it picks up from the bottom, providing proper acceleration. There is a sport mode that makes the gas pedal more sensitive to pressing, and the steering becomes heavy, but, in my opinion, it is not really needed for the Peugeot 3008. I liked the diesel engine for its consumption, in the city it turned out about 7-7.2 liters per 100 km, in mixed mode about 6.5 liters. There were no questions about the box, it shifts gears smoothly and accurately enough. Yes, only front-wheel drive, the French believe that it makes no sense for Europe to offer a car with all-wheel drive. Perhaps the developers are right, yet the Peugeot 3008 is an urban crossover, it will be used for more time on asphalt roads, in rare cases driving off primers, but here it has front-wheel drive, the ability to change the driving mode (snow, sand, primer) and ground clearance 219 mm will be enough for most.

The car is quite comfortable, the suspension works out well small bumps in the roadway, shaking a little on larger ones. At urban speeds, the cabin is quiet, but at a speed of 100 km / h, aerodynamic noise appears, but they do not particularly annoy, and if you do not specifically listen, you will not pay attention to them. There is not a lot of space in the cabin, but enough so that even adult passengers in the back feel free.

I liked the Peugeot 3008 - a nice exterior, an unusual interior, many interesting features, an economical diesel engine and a well-tuned automatic. Yes, there are a lot of strange ergonomic solutions in the car, but you can get used to them. Prices for the Peugeot 3008 start at 1,899,000 rubles, the maximum version of the GT Line, as in the test, costs 2,279,000 rubles. Do not forget about the good prices for options, for example, for 25,000 rubles you can retrofit a car with a navigation system, for 7,000 - wireless charging, for 8,000 you can tint the rear windows, and for only 30,000 rubles you can order a two-tone metallic color and make car more individual.

It's Saturday, which means it's time for our automotive section. We have only one news today, but what a news! Dyson has shared patents for its electric car. And in the main article you will find a test of the French crossover Peugeot 3008. Let's go!

Dyson electric car is getting closer

Last October, Dyson announced the decision of the board of directors to build its own electric vehicle factory in Singapore, which should be completed in 2020. This week, the patent office published the first Dyson electric vehicle patents filed 18 months ago. Of course, it's strange that a home appliance company would take on the design and manufacture of all-electric cars, but on the other hand, Dyson has a lot of experience in designing and manufacturing its own electric motors. I think getting people from the auto industry to work on the rest of the car's components isn't that hard. Perhaps next year we will be able to find out what kind of electric car Dyson turned out to be, most likely, it will be a crossover, and who from the auto industry had a hand in its creation.

Peugeot 3008 test

You probably remember the first model of the Peugeot 3008 crossover, which looked like a bloated Peugeot 308 hatchback. So, forget it, the new 3008 was completely redrawn by designers, and now it is an original beautiful crossover.

The impression is that the designers have run out of steam on it and they just did it “like everyone else”.

It’s a pity, but our car didn’t have regular navigation, but it’s still much better than the same Android Auto integrated into the system, and during the trip you get a beautiful picture with a map and route hints on the virtual dashboard.
