Some new houses, at least in Moscow, already have parking spaces with electric car chargers, but such houses are still few and the prices for such places are the highest. So, for example, in one of the new buildings of the capital, an ordinary parking space can be purchased for an average of 1 million rubles, and with a charging station it will already cost almost 2 million.

A home charging station with a power of 7 kW charges the car's battery from zero to 80% in more than 10 hours. If you use urban fast charging, the battery can be charged up to 80% in 40 or 90 minutes, depending on the power of the charging station, 100 or 50 kW, respectively. It is possible to charge the car from a conventional household AC network, but such charging is needed only for very emergency cases, since it will take forever. There are not many city charging stations even in Moscow, there are even fewer in the region, and in the regions, I think, it is even more difficult with them. Unlike Tesla, where Japanese Panasonic's batteries look like ordinary AA batteries, I-PACE's lithium-ion cells are made in the form of large packages that are stacked in special blocks, this design should be more efficient. The battery is located as low as possible between the axles and is protected by a steel box to avoid damage. It also has its own liquid-cooled thermal management system that circulates 19 liters of antifreeze. This system is necessary for warming up the batteries in cold weather and cooling in hot weather, it is interesting that it does not simply throw out excess heat, but uses it as necessary to warm up the cabin. There is an automatic system for preheating the battery and preparing systems, which is configured by a timer or installed through the application if a 4G module is installed in the car.

According to the manufacturer, the I-PACE is capable of driving up to 470 km with a 90 kWh battery. As representatives of the company say, although this figure is not easy, it is still achievable. Of course, many factors influence the mileage of an electric crossover, such as driving style, weather conditions, and even the route. For trips in the city and the surrounding area, I-PACE is a very good option, but not so much for long-distance travel, although Jaguar arranged a Moscow-St. Petersburg run for journalists and everything seemed to go well. The company gives the battery an 8-year warranty or 160,000 km, whichever comes first, during which time its capacity should not fall below 70%. The cost of the new battery could not be found out, but if something happens to it during the warranty period, you will have it replaced at any official dealer center in Russia.

To replenish energy while driving, the Jaguar I-PACE uses a recuperation system that allows almost complete accumulation of braking energy. By the way, the radiator grille is not fake, it passes air through itself at speed, which exits through a special cutout on the hood, allowing the nose not to lift up in motion and press it to the road. In addition, the exhaust air flows over the top of the car, creating an air bag, thereby providing additional silence in the cabin while driving.

The interior of the I-PACE is not as futuristic as one might think, imagining a modern electric car. Yes, there are five screens (dashboard, main display, climate control screen and screens built into the climate control washers), touch buttons on the steering wheel with active icons, a high-quality projection display with extended information display, buttons instead of the usual gear lever, but many of these things can be found in ordinary cars. In general, Jaguar tried to make its electric crossover as close to conventional cars as possible, giving it just a little futuristic. Interestingly, the manufacturer refers I-PACE to the Lifestyle segment, not Premium, so it does not, for example, have a door closer and power steering column, which looks strange for a car worth more than 6 million rubles.

In terms of dimensions, I would compare the I-PACE with the BMW X4, only thanks to the wheelbase of almost 3 meters (2.99), and this is comparable, for example, with that of a large Range Rover, the manufacturer managed to add space to the interior. With a height of 187 cm, I quite calmly sat down behind myself, and there was still a decent margin of space. Impressive, because from the outside the car does not look so big. At the same time, the manufacturer also made a large trunk, the volume of which is 656 liters, so that even overall luggage will fit in it without any problems. There is also a small luggage compartment in the front, which is convenient to use, for example, to store wires.

To be honest, Jaguar I-PACE really liked both the exterior and the interior, and, most importantly, the way it steers wonderfully. The price of the car scares off, 6 million is a decent amount, for this money you can take a car larger and more spacious, with a diesel or gasoline engine, and forget that you need to look for charging somewhere. If the infrastructure for electric vehicles develops, then, of course, at least for residents of megacities, buying an electric crossover will become more rational. Prices with the advent of competitors should sink. I think when the cost of a good configuration reaches the mark of 5 million, we will see quite a lot of these all-electric Jaguar I-PACE crossovers on the roads of large cities.
