1. Alexey Ikonnikov. Musical group We Are Scientists (“We are scientists”)

Summer has already crossed the middle and tends, so to speak, to sunset. But we continue to delight you with what we managed to find. Now, perhaps, it will happen more often - time will tell. Happy reading.

It turned out well with the previous issue of the digest - it was worth writing about The Wombats, and now they are already playing in Moscow at a poster picnic. I did not attend the event and got acquainted with the performance through YouTube. Most of all, I was surprised that the team is quite popular with us. Many people jumped, smiled, rejoiced and sang the lyrics in unison. I propose to watch and evaluate how the guys play concerts.

Well, today's issue will be dedicated to an equally bright band that managed to visit Russia this spring and play the same indie rock. Despite the fact that you may hear the name We Are Scientists for the first time, the team is already 11 years old.

In light of the current spread of the hipster movement, I think it's time to get a new definition of such bands - hipster rock.

But We Are Scientists are playing really well. Let's start with one of the first and most famous songs.

It is many years old, but it still sounds fresh, stands out from the rest. The drummer is absolutely not shy and plays in the group, perhaps, more than anyone else. A lot of drumming plus a certain disco rhythm. Manuel Interesting bass part, seemingly simple but sounds great, feels like an integral part, not an addition.

But don't judge the sound by just one song. Just like The Wombats, this band is quite diverse. It is enough to turn on this track, and you will understand that the energy and presentation are already completely different.

Unfortunately, I couldn't find a normal video, but I don't want to give a live recording - this song is good in a studio performance.

Agree, everything is different in music. Calm, but not indifferent, not slow, but you can’t call it fast either, not cheerful, but you don’t have to be sad here, nevertheless, it conveys the mood perfectly.

Interesting, I thought then. But I decided to watch a few episodes only after a good friend gave a different description. Californianization is a story about a writer who cannot write without women. All sorts of women are available to him, but he really needs only one.

So I got involved. Literally devoured a couple of seasons. The series “goes” really well, probably due to the bright characters and humor, which does not get bored in a couple of episodes. Another plus in defense of the series is that the episode lasts about 25 minutes. Finding time to watch the next episode is usually not a problem.

The plot of the first two seasons revolves around the book God Hates Us All by Hank. The book was later published in many countries. Seriously, I would not advise taking the work. At least David Duchovny admitted in an interview that he never read it, despite the fact that he loves his character very much and is ready to shoot for many more seasons in a row.

The book is not for everyone, but it has every chance you will like it if you are a fan of Salinger's works or Bukowski's style.

I will not retell the plot of other seasons. I will only hint: later Hank will write another book, already about his life. The product will be stolen. And then it's time to shoot the movie. In the latest season, Moody gets a great opportunity to look at himself from the outside and ".. finally stick his head out of his ass and stop asking for his life."

A new fifth season is already in production. The premiere is expected early next year.

3. Ilya Tarakanov. Show "Auto Exotics".

A promising project (for me personally) has both advantages and disadvantages. Let's start (still) with the disadvantages. The price of the entrance ticket is 800 rubles. For what was shown at the exhibition - it's frankly expensive. Do not forget about the cost of food at the show, for a couple of plates, as it were, shish kebab and potatoes, 1.5 thousand rubles were given. It just so happened that I am not a fan of beer - but mostly people drank the Siberian Crown (I think, 100-150 rubles per half liter) and felt great.

Okay, after all, the show is about cars, not about food. Regarding cars. I really liked the 21st Volga scattered across the territory, the “engine” with painted Smeshariki amused me. As for the rest, of course, everyone can find something to see, but I didn’t particularly like anything. The acquaintance with whom we were at the exhibition is much more deeply interested in cars, but he was mainly interested in "rare" models, modern cars (of which, by the way, there were not so many), he was not particularly "hooked". The photos were taken on an iPhone 4, so don't scold too much.

I liked the drift races, however, it was hard for the ears to stand at the track for a long time. They showed the broadcast of the Formula 1 race on the big screen, a rather pleasant event.

What can I say in the end. Expensive, cool (that's right), it is clear that people come to "hang out", have a good time. Strongly for an amateur. However, the density of cars per square meter is low. The exhibition has already passed, the recommendation for the next year is to go in a company so as not to die of boredom.

Or, here's a rather remarkable track. Cheerful, but not easy - two parts of the voice, a cool guitar riff, an incomprehensible vocal thing before the chorus. Again, I recommend.

And finally, so that your ears can rest from electric guitars and an abundance of drums, here's a calm, one might even say acoustic piece. Although no - the drummer does not miss a single quarter here either.

2. Igor Soprun. Moody, Hank Moody.

A successful writer who can't even write a line. He loves women, loves to drink, loves classic rock, as well as his teenage daughter and her mother, whom he never married.

This is how you can describe the entire plot of the series Californication, known in our country as "California fornicator", and as "California", and even "Californication".

A series about modern relationships, modern creative life. I started watching Californian when the whole Internet was buzzing with rumors like: “Did you watch this new series? Well, the one where they constantly swear, have sex and vomit, and most often all of this at the same time.

Interesting, I thought then. But I decided to watch a few episodes only after a good friend gave a different description. Californianization is a story about a writer who cannot write without women. All sorts of women are available to him, but he really needs only one.
