Immediately after the release of HTC TyTN II became the undisputed leader in this parameter among Windows Mobile-communicators and smartphones. With the release of Mio A702 with a 3 megapixel camera, the picture has not changed. Today we will compare the capabilities of the HTC TyTN II camera and another new model - Asus P750.

The camera interface in the Asus P750 is original, it somewhat resembles the design of MacOS, especially when opening the settings menu lists. A style similar to Aqua is used. All parameter changes occur in a pop-up window, all settings are lined up, when you select one or another submenu, its detailed settings appear at the top of the screen. In video mode, the maximum (2.5x) scaling is available from any resolution. In this case, you can enlarge the picture right during the recording of the video. The video quality is at a good level, comparable to the video quality in HTC TyTN II. The sound is recorded noticeably better than in TyTN II, almost without interference and noise and with high sensitivity: when recording video in the P750, the sound of cars moving, wind is heard, in recording with TyTN II, just the general noise of the street is barely audible.

In video mode, there is no limit on the recording time. It is possible to record short excerpts with subsequent sending in a multimedia message (the corresponding video recording mode is MMS).

Speed

The time of a full photo cycle (turning on the camera, taking a picture and displaying it on the screen) takes an average of 10-12 seconds in the Asus P750. Focusing time is 3 to 5 seconds for wide shots. If you shoot an object close-up (macro), the focusing time increases to 6-7 seconds. Approximately 5 seconds pass from the moment you press the capture button until the captured image is displayed on the screen.

The camera is slightly better than in Mio A702, but in many respects it is inferior to the HTC TyTN II camera and, as a result, HTC Touch Cruise, a complete analogue of TyTN II.

Comparison of 3 MP cameras Asus P750 and HTC TyTN II

Immediately after the release of HTC TyTN II became the undisputed leader in this parameter among Windows Mobile-communicators and smartphones. With the release of Mio A702 with a 3 megapixel camera, the picture has not changed. Today we will compare the capabilities of the HTC TyTN II camera and another new model - Asus P750.

Both models do not have a flash or a mirror, the lenses are equally open, not protected by anything.

Camera interface

The camera interface in the Asus P750 is original, it somewhat resembles the design of MacOS, especially when opening the settings menu lists. A style similar to Aqua is used. All parameter changes occur in a pop-up window, all settings are lined up, when you select one or another submenu, its detailed settings appear at the top of the screen. It is quite convenient to use such a scheme, apart from too small elements of scrolling the list of settings (the problem was still in the Asus P525), to select which you have to literally aim with the pen.

At the bottom of the screen is the image zoom bar. To zoom in and out on the subject, move the joystick to the left or right (while holding the camera horizontally). The maximum 3.2x zoom is available when shooting at the minimum (QVGA) resolution. All zoom modes look like this:

In video mode, the maximum (2.5x) scaling is available from any resolution. In this case, you can enlarge the picture right during the recording of the video. The video quality is at a good level, comparable to the video quality in HTC TyTN II. The sound is recorded noticeably better than in TyTN II, almost without interference and noise and with high sensitivity: when recording video in the P750, the sound of cars moving, wind is heard, in recording with TyTN II, just the general noise of the street is barely audible.

In video mode, there is no limit on the recording time. It is possible to record short excerpts with subsequent sending in a multimedia message (the corresponding video recording mode is MMS).

Speed

The time of a full photo cycle (turning on the camera, taking a picture and displaying it on the screen) takes an average of 10-12 seconds in the Asus P750. Focusing time is 3 to 5 seconds for wide shots. If you shoot an object close-up (macro), the focusing time increases to 6-7 seconds. Approximately 5 seconds pass from the moment you press the capture button until the captured image is displayed on the screen.

Shots taken with the HTC TyTN II have more clarity in both the foreground and background. At the same time, they are slightly lighter, there are no black areas typical for shots taken with the Asus P750. On the other hand, we can say that the Asus P750 has a lot of focus in the foreground and a blurry background, but in general, TyTN II photos look better, more natural in this case.

A noticeable drawback of the Asus P750 shots is geometric distortion. In the future, they will be visible in almost all pictures, in order to avoid them, you need to keep the device motionless at the time of shooting, the slightest breath and a camera deviation of a couple of millimeters give distortions. With the same shooting technique, there are practically no such distortions in TyTN II photographs.

When there is no focus in the frame, the HTC TyTN II camera covers the entire area of ​​the picture, making it evenly clear. In Asus P750, the picture is blurred over the entire area.

Summary: when shooting in low light outdoors, the camera in the Asus P750 lags behind the HTC TyTN II camera in terms of image quality. The photos taken by the Asus P750 lack clarity, with a lot of dark color spots and blurring of entire areas. Geometric distortion is a characteristic of the P750 regardless of lighting conditions.

Both communicators do not accurately determine the white balance during auto-adjustments. Asus P750 "leaves" in red colors, HTC TyTN II - in blue. But shots with a lot of light colors, especially white, still look more natural and natural in the case of the P750.

When Abbyy FineReader recognizes text, the results are similar. In the TyTN II photo, the recognition rate is higher, but not significantly. It is important to remember that the process of capturing text in relation to the Asus P750 is more troublesome than with the HTC TyTN II.

The quality of the built-in camera in Asus P750 is at a good level, if we compare it only with analogues of the Windows Mobile segment. The camera is slightly better than in Mio A702, but in many respects it is inferior to the HTC TyTN II camera and, as a result, HTC Touch Cruise, a complete analogue of TyTN II.
